Higher education reform is taking place worldwide and it is only a matter of time that widespread adoption of digital content and pedagogical implementation would make a meaningful impact in making high-quality education more accessible; especially in Medical Education. The digital blended-learning environment is one of the best ways to engage diverse learners in classroom teaching. Blended pedagogy employs digital technology to add accessible, individualized activities to improve learning and make better use of face-to-face classroom experiences. A blended curriculum has the potential to bridge learning gaps by providing high-quality, up-to-date, on-demand learning solutions in the face of limited infrastructure, faculty resources and educational budgets.
Department of Physiology, AIIMS Nagpur is organizing a day long workshop on ‘Digital Blended Learning in Medical Physiology’ to take a small step to aware the medical teachers regarding this novel teaching learning experience. The objective of this workshop is to discuss the digital/blended learning initiative, current efforts and potential barriers for adoption and implementation and to offer hands on training on model blended Physiology teaching in the classroom and laboratory.
This workshop will be inaugurated by Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Secretary, Medical Education and Drugs Department, Government of Maharashtra as the chief guest. Patron of this CME cum Workshop is Maj Gen. Dr. Vibha Dutta, Director, AIIMS, Nagpur. Guest speaker and faculty for this event is Dr. Kaushik Dutta is an award-winning Senior Lecturer at the University of New England (UNE) who has also been awarded a Fulbright Specialist and is on the roster for the next three years. Another guest speaker is Ms. Amy Bucher, head of Education at ADInstruments, Colorado Springs, Colorado Area. Eminent physiologists from different parts of India will also join the event for panel discussion for implementation of blended learning in medical physiology in Indian scenario.
