A National level e-CME on ‘Physiology of wellness in COVID times’ organized by the Dept of Physiology on 16th July 2021

 

CMEA National level e-CME on ‘Physiology of wellness in COVID times’ was organized by the Dept of Physiology, AIIMS Nagpur on 16th July. This event brought the stalwarts in the field of Physiology on one platform to discuss about the ‘Physiology of wellness’, which is all about incorporating simple lifestyle modifications, which have a profound effect on our health, more so during the COVID times. There were more than 500 registrations for this online event.
The programme began with the welcome address by the Director and CEO of AIIMS Nagpur, Major General Dr Vibha Dutta. 
Dr G K Pal, Senior Professor of Physiology, JIPMER, Pondicherry and also the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, JIPMER, spoke on ‘Yoga during pandemic and lockdown’. He emphasized on the importance of making yoga as a way of living our lives which will take care not only of our physical well-being, but also our mental well-being.
This was followed by a talk on ‘Mindfulness and meditation to combat COVID’ by Dr R K Yadav, who is the In-charge of Integrated Health Clinic, Dept of Physiology, AIIMS New Delhi. He spoke on the evidence-based mindfulness and meditative practices which have a positive impact on the general health and also in COVID patients.
Dr Nitin John, Professor and Head, Dept of Physiology, AIIMS Bibinagar, spoke on ‘Exercise intervention in post-COVID period’, where he elaborated the various exercise protocols to be followed by various subsets of patients.
Dr Mrunal Phatak, Professor and Head, Dept of Physiology, AIIMS Nagpur and Dean (Academics), AIIMS Nagpur discussed ‘COVID and Nutrition’ at great length. She spoke about the nutrition related lifestyle choices that people make during lockdown and the role of micronutrients in combating COVID-19 infection.
Dr Meenakshi Sinha, Professor, Dept of Physiology, AIIMS Raipur, delivered the talk on ‘Chrono-medicine during COVID times’, where she discussed the recent evidences regarding the role of chrono-medicine in various aspects of COVID-19.
Dr K K Deepak, Professor, Dept of Physiology, AIIMS Nagpur elaborated on ‘Recovery of post-COVID complications by lifestyle measures. He spoke about the role of physiologists and also posed many pertinent questions to be taken up for further research by the physiologists.
Towards the end of the programme, an announcement was made regarding the upcoming webinar series on individual aspects of lifestyle intervention measures, being organized by the Dept of Physiology, AIIMS Nagpur.
The programme was conducted by Dr Vinu Vij, Associate Professor, Dept of Physiology, AIIMS Nagpur and the vote of thanks was extended by Dr Ashlesh Patil, Assistant Professor, Dept of Physiology.
