‘Lifestyle Interventions Clinic’ by Department of Physiology started at AIIMS Nagpur

Lifestyle Interventions ClinicOn the occasion of World Obesity Day on 11th Oct 2021, the Department of Physiology, initiated ‘Lifestyle Interventions Clinic’ as a speciality clinic in OPD room no 443 at MIHAN AIIMS Nagpur. The Clinic will provide services to patients as well as healthy persons to attain healthy wellbeing through intervention prescription in the six pillars of lifestyle i.e.- Nutrition, Exercise, Sleep, Stress, social connection and Addiction. Many non communicable diseases like diabetes hypertension obesity , metabolic syndromes, arthritis, cancer etc can be modified by these lifestyle interventions. This clinic is only one of this kind in Vidarbha region.
The clinic was inaugurated at 1100 hrs by Maj Gen (Dr.) Vibha Dutta SM, Director & CEO, AIIMS, Nagpur. The program was followed by an online National CME from 1445 hrs to 1700 hrs on “Lifestyle interventions for Healthy living” The CME focused on two of the aspects of lifestyle interventions required to achieve physical and mental wellbeing. 
Dr. Mrunal Phatak, Professor and Head, Department of Physiology, AIIMS, Nagpur delivered the welcome speech. She appealed to everyone to use the services provided in this clinic to alleviate disease and promote health.
Dr. Achyuthan Eswar, Lifestyle Physician and Founder of Sampoorna Ahara & NutritionScience.in from Bengaluru, Karnataka, explained the benefits of Whole food Plant Based Diet and Lifestyle intervention in health & disease. 
It was followed by discussion on “Fit India Protocols and its applications” for analysis of muscular flexibility, endurance, core strength, static balance and cardiovascular fitness by Dr. K. K. Deepak, Professor and Head, Dept. of Physiology, AIIMS New Delhi.
The Question-and-answer session was moderated and vote of thanks was given by Dr. Vinu Vij, Associate Professor, Dept of Physiology AIIMS Nagpur.
Dr. Ashlesh Patil, Assistant professor, Dept of Physiology was MOC for the event.
This academic feast received huge response from participants all over India. The program was organised under the leadership of Maj Gen (Dr.) Vibha Dutta SM, Director and CEO AIIMS Nagpur, guided by Dr Mrunal Phatak, Dean Academics, supported by faculty and non-faculty staff of Department of Physiology.
