In India, 63 million people suffer from significant auditory loss. Hearing impairment is a serious but grossly neglected condition in India. Hence, it is of outmost importance to spread awareness about Hearing loss among the public. The Department of ENT at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur, in association with Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana had organized “Hearing Aid Distribution Programme” on 23rd November 2021. The welcome speech was given by Dr Shrikrishna B H, Additional Professor of ENT department. Maj Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta, SM, Director and CEO, AIIMS Nagpur, distributed the hearing aids to the patients of hearing loss, in the presence of Medical Superintendent Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar.  In her key note speech, Maj Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta Director and CEO, AIIMS Nagpur conveyed that Hearing aids will improve the quality of life of a deaf person in every way and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur is fully equipped for the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss. She also spoke about the Universal Neonatal Hearing Screening which is practiced at the institute for early detection of congenital hearing loss. Dr Manish Shrigiriwar, Officiating Medical Superintendent, AIIMS Nagpur expressed that AIIMS Nagpur is always striving to bring excellent health care services to the poor and needy. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Vijay Bidkar. The hearing aid fitting and counselling of these patients was done on the same day. A total of 20 recipients benefitted from the hearing aids. Dr Shantanu Pande, co-ordinator of MJPJAY scheme was present on the occasion. The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Director & CEO Maj Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta, SM and Officiating Medical Superintendent Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar.
