‘Disability and Rehabilitation Awareness Week’ conducted by department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from 2nd to 5th December 2021

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation conducted ‘Disability and Rehabilitation Awareness Week’ from 2nd to 5th December 2021. Patron of the program was Major Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta, Director & CEO of AIIMS, Nagpur with Co-patron being, Prof Mrunal Phatak, Dean (Acaedemics). 
The week started with General Awareness Public Talk, on the topic ‘Rehabilitation of Various Disabilities’ on 2nd December 2021. The talk was presided over by Prof (Dr) Manish Shririgiriwar, Medical Superintendent. Dr Sandeep Babusingh Dabhekar, Assistant Professor in Department of ENT, Dr Rajesh Shripat Pattebahadur, Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, Dr Sreelakshmi V, Assistant Professor in Department of Psychiatry and Dr. Harshanand Popalwar, Assistant Professor in Department of PMR conducted public lectures on rehabilitation of Hearing, Visual, Mental and Locomotor Disabilities respectively.
On 3rd December, Department of PMR, conducted CME on the topic, ‘Updates in Disability Rehabilitation’, wherein, Prof Mrunal Phatak madam, delivered the Welcome address. Dr Vijay Bidkar, Associate Professor in Department of ENT spoke on topic, Hearing for all, Dr Purvasha Narang, Associate Professor in Department of Ophthalmology spoke on topic, ‘Looking at disability in the eye’. Dr Suyoj Jaiswal, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry delivered talk on topic, ‘Mental disability is employable’ and Dr Harleen Uppal, Associate Professor in Department of PMR, delivered talk on topic, ‘Updates about Disability Rehabilitation Services at AIIMS, Nagpur.’
Winners of Essay Writing Competition, were announced. The topic of Essay Writing Competition was, ‘Not all disabilities are visible’. 
On 5th December, the week ended with Nukkad Naatak on the title, ‘Divyangjan Ki Umeed, Punarvaas Ilaaj’, which was presided over by Prof. Mrunal Phatak. The Nukkad Naatak was performed by B Batch of MBBS 2018 Batch.
