In the effort of offering services to hearing disabled patients, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur has expanded its audiological services in the department of ENT.

The Executive Director Dr. M. Hanumantha Rao inaugurated the state of art “Sound Proof Audiology and Speech Therapy Room” on 21^st November 2023. The event was graced by Medical Superintendent Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar.

Various services like Pure tone Audiometry, Behavioral Audiometry, Visual Reinforcement Audiometry, Immittance Audiometry, Brain Stem Evoked Response Audiometry (BERA), Screening ABR, Oto Acoustic Emission (OAE), Voice & Speech assessment and therapy are available in the department of ENT. In house audiologist and speech language pathologist is providing rehabilitative services to the needy patients.

In his address, Dr. M. Hanumantha Rao Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Nagpur conveyed that the hearing and speech related services will improve the quality of life of a deaf person in every way and AIIMS, Nagpur is fully equipped for the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss. He also expressed that the Cochlear Implant program will begin shortly in AIIMS, Nagpur.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar called for wider coverage of free hearing aid distribution to eligible patients under MJPJAY scheme and measures to reduce waiting for surgical treatment of hearing disabled patients.
