International Anatomy day celebrated by department of Anatomy AIIMS Nagpuron 15th October 2022

Human Anatomy is the foundational aspect of modern medicine. To emphasize the importance of body donation for learning Anatomy, a wonderful ‘nukkad natak’ was performed by the students of AIIMS Nagpur on the occasion of the International Anatomy day celebration, 15th October 2022. Many patients visiting AIIMS Nagpur OPD saw this skit and were inspired to pledge their most valuable asset i.e. the human body at the end of lives.

Young school students of DPS MIHAN and DY Patil International School MIHAN visited the Museum of the Department of Anatomy, AIIMS Nagpur. They witnessed the display of excellent functional anatomical models prepared by first year nursing students, specimens of human organs, human bones, synthetic cadaver lab, and visualized histological specimens through Cilika, binocular, trinocular microscopes. Curiosity about anatomical structures in their minds was perfectly satisfied with the answers by the faculties and students of the department.

A National level Essay and artistic poster competition were conducted on this occasion.  Medical students all over India have enthusiastically participated in these events. Unique artistic pieces from these were displayed during the celebration for the visitors.

Head of the Department of Anatomy Dr Tarnekar, Dr Vishwajit Deshmukh, Dr Bharat Sontakke were tirelessly involved in the successful organization of these events. Dr Arunkumar, Dr Snehal, Dr Kirubhanand, Dr TS Gugapriya, Dr Gayatri Muthiyan and faculties from Nursing College were all actively involved in the celebrations.

All this was possible due to the constant encouragement of the honorable Director of AIIMS Nagpur - Major Gen. Dr Vibha Dutta, SM and with the support of Medical superintendent Dr Manish Srigiriwar and Dean Academics Dr Mrunal Phatak.
