AIIMS Nagpur Hosts Workshop on Good Clinical Practice and NDCT Rules 2019 Nagpur, April 26: The Department of Pharmacology, in collaboration with the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) of AIIMS Nagpur, successfully organized a one-day workshop on "Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and New Drugs and Clinical Trials (NDCT) Rules 2019" on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Patron Dr. Prashant Joshi and Co-Patron Dr. Mrunal Phatak. Dr. Ganesh Dakhale served as the Organizing Chairperson, while Dr. Chaitali Chindhalore was the Organizing Secretary. Dr. Prashant Joshi delivered an insightful session on the "Overview of GCP," emphasizing the ethical imperative to protect the autonomy, privacy, and confidentiality of research participants. He highlighted the importance of avoiding exploitation and adhering to the core principle of Primum non nocere -"First, do no harm." The workshop featured expert sessions by Dr. Ganesh Dakhale, who elaborated on the informed consent process, and other resource persons, including Dr. Mrunalini Kalikar, Dr. Chaitali Chindhalore, and Dr. Snehalata Gajbhiye, who provided detailed insights into international and national regulatory guidelines governing clinical trials. Engaging interactive sessions such as role plays on the informed consent process and a mock ethics committee meeting, enriched the participants' understanding of practical challenges in clinical research. A panel discussion on "Challenges and Solutions in Clinical Trials," moderated by Dr. Dakhale, featured valuable contributions from panelists Dr. Rajashree Khot, Dr. Sagar Makode, Dr. Mrunalini Kalikar, and Mrs. Indira Nair. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 82 delegates, including faculty members, Ethics Committee representatives, and professionals from clinical research organizations (CROs). The event was smoothly conducted with Dr. Kalyani as the master of ceremonies. The success of the workshop was a result of the dedicated efforts of the Department of Pharmacology and the IEC team at AIIMS Nagpur.
