View
The Department of Community Medicine, AIIMS Nagpur, plans to expand its academic, research, service, and public health capacities through strengthened MBBS and MD training, proposed PhD, fellowship and certificate programmes, multidisciplinary research, community-based services, and specialised initiatives in epidemiology, biostatistics, maternal and child health, tribal health, health systems, implementation science, environmental and occupational health, and digital public health. The department also envisages developing intelligent platforms for surveillance, data analysis, programme monitoring, decision support, and health-system solutions, along with stronger collaborations, infrastructure, and capacity-building activities. As part of this expansion, the Ministry has approved the establishment of a Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre by the department, expected to commence in 2026, providing WHO-approved vaccination, certification, and pre-travel counselling in accordance with International Health Regulations. Through these initiatives, the department aims to emerge as a regional and national resource centre for public health education, research, service delivery, innovation, and health-system strengthening.
