All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nagpur and Pahlé India Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on a ground-breaking study to assess blood lead levels in children and their impact on cognitive and mental health across India. The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Prashant P. Joshi, Hon. Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Nagpur, and Dr. Ishan Joshi, Director, Programmes and Partnerships from Pahlé India Foundation at AIIMS Nagpur in the presence of Dr. Jyoti E. John, Professor and Head Department of Biochemistry, and Principal Investigator of the project; Dr. Meenakshi Girish, Professor and Head, Department of Paediatrics, Dr. Nitin Marathe, Joint Medical Superintendent and  Associate Professor, Hospital administration from AIIMS, Nagpur and Dr. Jyoti Yadav, Assistant Director, Programmes and Fellow, Pahlé India Foundation.

Dr (Prof) Prashant P Joshi, has been appointed as the new Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur and officially joined office on 16/02/2024. 

Dr Joshi, MD (Medicine), MSc (Clinical Epidemiology, UNC, Australia) is medical teacher, researcher, administrator and consultant Physician with over 40 years of experience. He was a former Professor and Head of Department (HOD) of Medicine at AIIMS Nagpur (2019-2023); and Indira Gandhi Govt. Medical College, Nagpur (2008-2019). With over 217 research publications in high impact factor, prestigious journals and principal investigator / steering committee member/ regional coordinator in numerous large, multicentric, WHO-ICMR funded research projects / clinical trials; he has featured in Top 2% Most Influential Scientists in 2023 Stanford University List.

Department of dentistry, AIIMS Nagpur celebrated “World Oral Health Day” on 20th March 2024 in the AIIMS OPD. Prof. Dr. Ramaraj PN, Head of Dentistry, welcomed the guests. The Executive Director, Prof.  Dr. Prashant Joshi in his speech emphasized the importance of maintaining oral health to not only protect oneself but also to reduce economic burden. Medical Superintendent, Prof. Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar, Elaborated the various Do’s & Don’ts for maintain good oral hygiene. Deputy Director (Administrative) Mr. Vijay Kumar Nayak, Principal Nursing College Dr. Rajani Peter were present during the occasion along with Faculties, Students and general public. The students of nursing college presented a SKIT on oral health maintenance for the public. Dr. Uday Kiran Uppada, Associate Professor proposed the vote of thanks.

A School Oral health screening and education program was conducted on 21st March, as part of outreach activity, at the South Point Public School, Manewada road, Omkar Nagar, Nagpur. Prof. Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Nagpur and Dr. Mrunalini Dasture, Principal of the school, were present. The AIIMS Dental Team consisted of Prof. Dr. Ramaraj PN, Associate Prof. Dr. Ganesh Jadhav and others. Two Hundred students were screened in the camp, oral health education imparted, Oral Health Kit were distributed.
