AIIMS Nagpur, Department of Anaesthesiology and critical care and Department of Anatomy, headed by Dr Gajanan Chavan and Dr A. Tarnekar respectively, successfully hosted VESALIUS 2024, a two-day cadaveric regional anaesthesia workshop, in collaboration with the Academy of Regional Anaesthesia (AORA). The event, held on September 28-29, 2024, brought together experts to explore advanced regional anaesthesia techniques through hands-on cadaveric sessions.
Under the guidance of Dr. Sandeep Diwan, the workshop director, participants were trained in ultrasound-guided needling techniques and learned to administer various nerve blocks on soft-embalmed cadavers. The sessions included live scanning demonstrations and lectures by renowned national faculty, Dr. Archana Areti, Dr Saurabh Barde, Dr Harshal Wagh, Dr. Rasika, Dr Shilpa S. Dr. Gugapriya, Professor Anatomy provided invaluable assistance in dissection and demonstration of cadavers, enhancing participants' understanding of anatomy during the workshop. A special session was dedicated to pediatric regional anaesthesia. The workshop was accredited with 4 MMC credit hours.
The success of VESALIUS 2024 was a testament to collaborative leadership of Dr. P. P. Joshi, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Nagpur, Dr. Mrunal Phatak, Dean Academics, and Mr. Vijay Nayak, DDA. Their support, along with contributions from the organizing team, ensured that event provided an exceptional learning experience for all participants. Dr. Bhuvaneswari Balasubramanian, the Organizing Secretary, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all departments, including the Department of Anatomy, GMC Nagpur, for their invaluable support in making VESALIUS 2024 a success.
