The most recent oath ceremony was held on 25th January 2024, organized for the third batch BSc
Honours Nursing. The Chief Guest, Dr Latha Venkatesan, Principal, College of Nursing, AIIMS New
Delhi, in the presence of Dr Hanumantha Rao, Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur lit the students
lamps and distributed awards. The oath was administered by Professor (Dr.) Rajini Peter, Principal of
the College of Nursing. Dr Mrunal Phatak, Dean Academics, Dr Manish Shrigiriwar, Medical
Superintendent, Mr. Vijay Kumar Nayak, Deputy Director (Admin) were also present at the event.

2. Advanced skill training workshop for Nursing officers and students; July, 2022
From July 1–3, 2022, the College of Nursing, AIIMS Nagpur in association with Laerdal Medical India
organised a three-day advanced skill training workshop for nursing officers, BSc Honours Nursing, and
Paramedical students. 115 nursing officers were trained in 6 batches on different skills such as BLS
algorithms, oxygen therapy, NIV, basic and advanced airway techniques, ECG basics and arrhythmia
(defibrillator) management, identification and management of anaphylactic shock, cardiac arrest and
importance of effective team dynamics. Students learned quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Individualized hands-on training, provision of practice opportunities and immediate feedback
mechanisms were highlights of most of the sessions.

3. Short course on Nursing essentials; Building clinical reasoning and competence, focus on quality,Dec, 2023
A short course on nursing essentials focusing on advanced skills was organized for nurse managers and
senior nurses in critical care areas from July 2–9, 2023. Building effective nursing teams, managing
pain, dealing with vulnerable patients, emergency trauma care, palliative and end-of-life care, good
body mechanics, incident reporting systems, patient care on a ventilator, preparing and safely
administering chemotherapy, and nurses' roles in radiation therapy were among the topics covered in
the sessions. Hands-on sessions on catheter care, HAPU care, pin site care, tracheostomy tube care, care
of surgical drain, PICC line care, and initial assessment of head trauma were included in the CNE
programme. Thirty senior nurses from hospitals in Sawangi and Nagpur completed the course.

4. National workshop on Biostatistics and Research essentials Short course, Jan 2024
College of Nursing, AIIMS Nagpur organized a two-day hands-on national workshop on Biostatistics
which was followed by a short-course on research essentials from January 8 th January 14 th , 2024.
Speakers from the medical, nursing, and statistics departments at the various Institutes of National
Importance enriched the programme with participants from across the country. The workshop included
sessions on sample size estimation, parametric and non-parametric inferential statistical techniques and
exploratory analysis along with hands-on analysis on SPSS and Jamovi. The research essentials short
course gave an overview of fundamentals of nursing research with sessions such as clinical nursing
research, literature search and CTRI registration, research designs, digital tools for data collection,
qualitative methods, reference management and publication of research article along with group work

5. National workshop on Simulation integrated nursing education, Mar 2024
College of Nursing, AIIMS Nagpur organized a one-day orientation workshop on Simulation integrated
nursing education -“Design Do and Check” on first March, 2024. The expert faculty from Laerdal, Ms
Princy Fernando, dealt on basic concepts of Simulation, scripting scenarios, debriefing and evaluation
along with hands-on activities of scenario building, and simulation sessions in groups in the Central
Simulation Lab followed by exercises on debriefing. Participants in the workshop included 32 nursing
faculty members and nurse educators from across India.
