Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS Nagpur: Excellence in Pediatric Health Care and Education

The Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS Nagpur is committed to advancing the health of children, and adolescents through a holistic and innovative approach. We focus on:

Patient-Centric Health Care

     Our goal is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to all pediatric patients.

     This involves:

  • Clinical Care: Our department delivers exceptional care in outpatient (OPD), inpatient (IPD) and Paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) . Our team of doctors and nursing staff work together to develop and refine treatment protocols, ensuring adherence to the latest international standards.
  • Specialty Clinics: We offer specialized care in Pediatrics Neurology, Developmental Pediatrics, Paediatric Pulmonology, Rhematology, Gatroenterology Hematology, and Endocrinology. We plan to expand our range of specialty clinics in the near future.
  • Diagnostic Excellence: our team excels in diagnosing and managing rare disorders through meticulous pattern recognition and collaborative problem-solving. The department has a tradition of special rounds during which every symptom and sign is dissected till a consensus is reached and diagnostic dilemmas resolved. This not only helps in sharpening our clinical skills but also creates a positive learning environment in the department.

       

    2.  Research 

    Any clinical acumen will tend to stagnate if it is not bolstered by good research. There is a strong research focus and research mandate in the department

    Research is integral to our mission. Our department is dedicated to advancing child health through cutting edge research by doing, clinical trials, research publication, extramural and intramural projects. We are forging partnerships with national and international research bodies to enhance our work in developmental pediatrics, neurology, rheumatology, paediatric allergy pulmonology, gastroenterology general pediatrics, and critical care. Committed to medical education, the department fosters a collaborative environment where innovative research and clinical excellence are prioritized ensuring the best care and training for future pediatric specialist.

    3.Learner-Centric Teaching

           We prioritize innovative and effective teaching methods, ensuring that our students gain valuable experience and insights:

  • Curriculum Design: Our pediatric undergraduate curriculum emphasizes quality over quantity in patient interactions. There is a constant effort to make undergraduate teaching as innovative and effective as possible and the pediatric undergraduate curriculum reflects this philosophy. The pediatric log book is crafted to maximize learning, encourage reflection, and facilitate meaningful feedback.
  • Training and Extension: We extend our expertise through various outreach programs, including specialist visits and basic life support training for different community groups. The department is providing caregiver training in WHO – CST module for parents with Autism.

        4.Advocacy and Capacity Building          

        We aim to be a center of excellence for skill development and capacity building in central India:

  • Community Engagement: Our department is involved in public awareness through webinars and educational programs on various health topics.
  • Future Goals: We aspire to become a leading center for skills training for medical colleges and health facilities across the region.
