About Ophthalmology

About The Department

The Department of Ophthalmology at AIIMS Nagpur was established in 2019.
Our vision is to restore vision. We strive to provide sight to the sightless.
We are committed to a culture of excellence in the field of patient care. In our pursuit for quality, we have procured a wide range of the latest, state-of-the art machines and equipment and have made available for poor patients a huge variety of OPD, diagnostic and operative services across the Ophthalmic sub-specialties estimated to save more than 5 crores of patient’s finances annually. We are committed to providing optimum and rational medical and/or surgical solutions to our patients with all types of ophthalmic complaints.
Armed with a team of bright, young minds, we foresee a future which is rich in Research work. We are already involved in a number of clinical trials and multi-centric studies. We are eager to form new associations and collaborations, both within and outside the institute in order to further the cause of science with a strong basis of community welfare. To this end, we have started out-reach services and community camps as well as online consultations.
We are dedicated in imparting education to the under-graduate and post-graduate students in Ophthalmology by striving to make them competent not just in analytical, reflective thinking and clinical-surgical skills but also by helping them develop empathy, team-spirit and professionalism. We also plan to raise a cadre of well-trained Optometry graduates and conduct many certificate courses in the coming years.
The subspeciality vitreoretina in the department of Ophthalmology, provides medical and surgical retina facilities to all strata of the society. Surgeries are performed under subsidized fees, MJPJAY scheme and Ayushman Bharat yojana.
