1] About the Department.

Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, is an integral part of a medical institute which impart academic excellence by providing evidence-based, problem-solving comprehensive medical education. The approach of the department is to practice ethical standards, logical thinking, teamwork, professionalism and a modern scientific attitude to serve the Judiciary. While in health equity research and handling of medico-legal cases the department is having the vision of nurturing an environment which is conducive to the scientific spirit, innovation, thinking, creation and logical sequencing.   

Scope of Services-

  • As an institute’s vision of passion for excellence, the department strives hard in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching through an active learning process.  
  • As a tertiary centre, through the CFRU (Clinical Forensic Response Unit) department is effectively handling ante-mortem medico-legal work which includes Assault cases, Drunkenness cases, Sexual assault cases, POCSO cases, weapon examination, and Forensic Psychiatry cases.
  • In the initial stage department is trying to provide guidance to physicians in handling poisoning cases through PCC (Poison Control Centre) which includes two subunits Poison Information Centre (PIS) and Analytic Toxicology Lab.
