The Department of Medical Hematology provides comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services for patients with blood and bone marrow disorders. The department offers evaluation and management of anaemias, bleeding and clotting disorders, hemoglobinopathies (such as thalassemia and sickle cell disease), platelet disorders.
It also manages haematological malignancies, including leukaemia’s, lymphomas, and multiple myeloma, through evidence-based chemotherapy and supportive care. Advanced diagnostic facilities such as complete haematological work-up, peripheral smear examination, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy.
The department provides day-care services for transfusions, chemotherapy, and other Hematology procedures, with inpatient care for patients. Supportive services infection management, and nutritional counselling are integral parts of care.
In addition, the department is actively involved in teaching, training of medical students and residents, and clinical research, contributing to high-quality patient care and academic excellence.
