Consultation appointment at AIIMS Nagpur has just become more convenient for the public with the mobile based appointment system recently launched by the institute.  AIIMS Nagpur is the first Central Government hospital in the country to start a patient appointment system via mobile app where patients can seek appointment directly in the name of a specific consultant. It was envisioned by the Executive Director, Dr Hanumantha Rao, when he first took charge of the institute in April, 2023. The mobile app was then designed and integrated with the hospital's queue system so that anyone can directly book an appointment for OPD consultation in any speciality, for a specific consultant. Patients can download e-Vaidya app from google playstore and avail this facility anytime. The system is also integrated with a payment portal for first time registrations and those revisiting after 6 months.

The e-Vaidya mobile appointment system was launched on 08-12-2023 by the Executive Director of AIIMS Nagpur Dr Hanumantha Rao. Deputy Director Administration Mr Vijaykumar Naik was also present. A short video demonstrating the process of booking an OPD appointment was displayed to the audience. Dr Hanumantha Rao took the stage to demonstrate the real-time appointment booking process and facilitated the first appointment for a patient under follow up at AIIMS, Nagpur. The audience applauded the speed and simplicity with which the appointment was secured, demonstrating the system’s remarkable efficiency.

This facility saves time waiting at the queue in the hospital for registration because the patient is ensured direct consultation at the time slot given, it also removes inconvenience due to non-availability of the consultant on the day the patient chooses to come to the hospital as the app will display the availability of all consultants on a weekly basis.

The hospital serves approximately 3000 outpatients daily yet patients do not have to wait in line for registrations anytime during the day. This mobile based application provides a holistic experience of convenience, as the app also links with other facilities like retrieval of patient's past prescriptions, lab reports generated in the hospital anytime in the past, information about lab tariffs for inpatient investigations and much more.
