 Leading Safe Care: Essentials for Nurse Managers

AIIMS Nagpur, College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Association of Nurse Executives, India, recently hosted a 7-day Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) program titled "Leading Safe Care: Essentials for Nurse Managers." The program, held from August 8–14, 2025. It was organized under the "Development of Nursing Services-Training of Nurses" scheme by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The course aimed to equip participants with the expertise to prevent, identify, and manage patient safety incidents. The goal was to enable them to lead safety initiatives and improve care quality in their respective healthcare facilities. The program was officially inaugurated by Dr. Prashant P Joshi, Honorable Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Nagpur, with the presence of Dr. Mrunal Phatak, Dean of Academics, and the Course Director, Dr. Rajini Peter, Professor cum Principal of the College of Nursing, along with other distinguished guests.

Through a comprehensive curriculum that included sessions by experts, case scenario analyses, panel discussions, quizzes, and role-playing, the course empowered 30 senior nursing officers and nurse managers from various prestigious institutions across India such as INIs, to confidently implement global safety standards and drive quality improvements. The participants successfully completed the program and provided positive feedback. This initiative reinforces our commitment to safeguarding patient safety and enhancing healthcare outcomes.
