A workshop “Medical Certification of Cause of Death (MCCD) Training of Trainers (TOT)” is organized from 06th to 08th of January 2025, by Department of Forensic Medicine, AIIMS Nagpur in association with Public Health Dept, Govt. of Maharashtra and Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, under the guidance of, Dr. (Prof) Prashant P. Joshi sir, Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur.
Inauguration of this workshop is done at the hands of Dr. (Prof) Prashant P. Joshi sir, Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur. Organizing secretory, Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar, Prof. and Head, Dept. of FMT, AIIMS Nagpur, Dr. Rajratna Waghmare, Dy. Director of State Bureau of Health Intelligence and Vital Statistic, Pune cum Dy. Registrar Birth and Deaths, Pune, Dr. Siddharth Dubhashi, Dean, Student Welfare, Dr. Ganesh Dakhale, Dean Examination, Dr. Shriram Gogulwar, Principal, Health & Family Welfare Training Centre, Nagpur, Dr. Yagnik Vaza, Country co-ordinator and Dr. Sharvari Mhapankar, liaison officer from Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, were present for Inaugural Program.
This three-day workshop is attended by total 403 participants. Day wise number of participants were; 06th January – 132, 07th January – 143 & 08th January – 128. These participants were Assistant Professors, Junior Resident, Medical Record Officers and Technicians from various Government, Private and Deemed Medical Colleges of Maharashtra. Faculties, Senior Residents and Junior Residents from AIIMS Nagpur also participated in Workshop.
Purpose of this workshop is to bring awareness and to increase correct reporting of Medical Certification of Cause of Death from institutions. The accurate filling of cause of death is very important for evidence based medical health policies and vital statistics along with disease trend analysis. A separate session was also taken for MRD Technicians and coders for practical demonstration of ICD coding.
In view of good and transparent governance along with digital India movement, Department of Forensic Medicine had developed web portal of “Online Post Mortem Report Status”, for the first time in state of Maharashtra. The web portal was launched at the hands of Hon. Dr. (Prof) Prashant P. Joshi, Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur. This portal is meant to add ease of investigating officers, legal agencies and relatives of deceased, for finding out the real time status of Post Mortem Report without divulging its confidential legal information.
