"Motivational Oration on Diabetes Research at AIIMS, Nagpur"

The Department of General Medicine at AIIMS, Nagpur, successfully organized a “Motivational Oration on Diabetes Research” on 7th June 2024 at AIIMS Nagpur, featuring two eminent Padma Shri awardees: the legendary Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre and Chairman of Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, Chennai, and Dr. Shashank Joshi, Consultant Endocrinologist at Joshi Clinic, Mumbai. The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a distinguished endocrinologist at Nagpur. The Chief Patron of the function was Dr. Prashant P. Joshi, Hon'ble Executive Director of AIIMS, Nagpur. 

The event commenced with Dr. Prashant P. Joshi, Executive Director of AIIMS, Nagpur, who introduced the subject and the eminent speakers. His insightful introduction set the tone for an inspiring session.

Dr. V. Mohan, a dedicated researcher, delivered an inspiring talk on “My Story of 50 Years in Diabetes Research.” He motivated everyone by sharing his remarkable journey, which began in a small car garage and led to more than 1,700 publications in the best medical journals. His experiences were highly informative and served to inspire and guide both faculty and students in conducting high-quality research.

Dr. Shashank Joshi, known for his eloquence, explained the increasing role of artificial intelligence in our lives and how AI can help manage diseases, especially Type 2 Diabetes. His insights on the topic “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Diabetes” were intriguing and thought-provoking.

Dr. Prashant P Joshi falicitated the guest speakers with Shawl, Shriphal and Memento, as a token of appreciation from the Institute. Dignitaries sharing the dais with the Chief Guest, Executive Director, Guest speakers included Dr. Mrunal Phatak, Dean of Academics at AIIMS, Nagpur, and Dr. Sunita Kumbhalakar, Head of the Department of General Medicine, who also presented the vote of thanks. 

The program was skillfully conducted by Dr. Rajashree Khot, the Master of Ceremony and  organized by Organizing Secretary Dr. Udit Narang. Other faculty members of the Department of General Medicine supported the successful organisation of the event. 

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, nursing officers, and paramedical staff of AIIMS, Nagpur, in large numbers.

The oration took place from 3 PM to 5 PM in the AIIMS, Nagpur Auditorium and was a resounding success.
