The Department of Trauma and Emergency at AIIMS Nagpur, in collaboration with the Association of Surgeons Nagpur, marked the World Trauma Day with the successful organization of the Trauma Update 2024 CME Programme. This event united healthcare professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills in trauma management.
The day commenced with an inauguration ceremony that set the tone for a day dedicated to learning and collaboration. The Hon’ble Executive Director AIIMS, Nagpur, Prof Dr Prashant P. Joshi, opened the proceedings, emphasizing the critical need for continuous education in the evolving landscape of trauma care. He highlighted the significance of such initiatives in improving patient outcomes and enhancing community awareness regarding trauma prevention. Prof Dr Mrunal Phatak, Dean Academics AIIMS Nagpur, also graced the occasion with her presence. The programme featured prominent speakers from various leading institutes across the country, covering the critical topics from immediate management in trauma and rehabilitation.
In a remarkable effort to raise community awareness, a street play was organized on 16th October in the AIIMS Nagpur OPD, on Civilian Responder Training Road Injury focussing on prevention, the Golden Hour, and the Good Samaritan Law. It was performed by the students and this was well-received by attendees, including the Hon’ble Executive Director and the Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Nagpur, showcasing the institution's dedication to community education.
Additionally, a blood donation drive took place on 16th October in collaboration with the Department of Transfusion Medicine Department. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Faculty, Staff, Nursing Officers, Residents, and Students, reinforcing the importance of community service in healthcare.
The Trauma Update 2024 CME Programme not only achieved its educational objectives but also strengthened community engagement and awareness regarding trauma care. The event was organized in the guidance of Prof Dr Mahendra Chauhan by Dr Vivek Kumar, Dr Ajay A., Dr Nilesh Jagne, Dr Navneet P., Dr Jashwini Bhoyar, Dr Soumya Ghoshal. Dr Kanhaiya Chandak, President of the Association of Surgeons, also praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of collaboration among healthcare professionals.
