Diwali celebrated with children in Pediatrics ward at AIIMS Nagpur

 In a heartwarming celebration of Diwali, the Pediatrics ward at AIIMS Nagpur was illuminated with joy and laughter as Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur, Dr Prashant Joshi and Executive Director, COMHAD, UK, Dr. Uday Bodhankar, a renowned pediatrician, personally distributed gifts to the children undergoing treatment.

The initiative was undertaken when Dr Joshi expressed his desire to bring some Diwali cheer to the children at AIIMS Nagpur Pediatric ward as part of the hospital’s commitment to holistic healing saying, “A child’s smile is the brightest light we can offer this Diwali”.  He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr Uday Bodhankar, for his generous gesture in preparing the gifts so thoughtfully and at a short notice.

As part of this initiative, Dr Bodhankar donated gift hampers comprising healthy Rajgira, Chikki, and Wheat Biscuits, along with age-appropriate toys, educational materials were lovingly distributed to approximately 50 children, bringing smiles and festive cheer to the young patients and their families.  Dr Bodhankar, known for his compassionate care, said, “Beyond medicine, emotional well being plays a vital role in recovery. Celebrating Diwali with hospitalized children reminds us of the importance of empathy in healthcare.

Dr Nilesh Nagdive Pediatric Surgeon and Medical Superintendent, AIIMS Nagpur, joined the faculty from pediatric department along with parents and nursing staff in this joyous occasion. 

This event is a testament to the hospital’s dedication towards creating a nurturing environment and its efforts to provide not just medical care but also in extending emotional and social support to the distressed patients and their families.
