AIIMS Nagpur Observes World TB Day 2026 with TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Programme

AIIMS Nagpur Observes World TB Day 2026 with TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Programme

AIIMS Nagpur, in collaboration with SHARE INDIA and CDC India, observed World TB Day on 24th March 2026 under the theme "Yes! We Can End TB" at the IPD Lecture Hall, AIIMS Nagpur.

The programme commenced with the inauguration of a Healthcare Worker TB Screening initiative at the Day Care Centre by Prof. Dr. Prashant Joshi, Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting. The event brought together distinguished experts including Dr. Sunil Khaparde, Senior Advisor, SHARE INDIA; Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Public Health Specialist-TB, CDC India; and Dr. Sampada Bhide, Associate Project Director, SHARE INDIA, Dr. Ranjan Solanki, Additional Professor, Community Medicine, who addressed healthcare workers on TB infection, and the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Infection Prevention Control 3.0 initiative. The screening initiative aims to identify TB infection among healthcare workers at AIIMS Nagpur, recognising that those on the frontlines of patient care are themselves at heightened risk of TB exposure. Speakers emphasised the critical importance of robust Infection Prevention and Control measures within healthcare settings as a cornerstone of the national TB elimination effort. The programme also highlighted the role of early detection, timely treatment, and institutional sensitisation in reducing the burden of TB.

The programme was attended by faculty, residents, nurses, and healthcare staff of AIIMS Nagpur, reaffirming the institution's steadfast commitment to protecting its healthcare workforce and building a healthier, TB-free future for the nation.
