AIIMS Nagpur Empowers Educators with Teachers as Mentors Workshop

To enhance the quality of medical and nursing education, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, hosted a specialised mentoring workshop "Teachers as Mentors" on March 6, 2026.The session was led by Dr. Anand Nadkarni, a renowned psychiatrist and psychologist from the Institute of Psychological Health, Mumbai.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. (Prof.) Prashant P. Joshi, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Nagpur. During the inauguration, Dr. Prashant P. Joshi emphasised the critical importance of the mentor-mentee relationship for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He noted that equipping teachers with advanced mentoring skills is a "need of the hour" to ensure students are supported throughout their medical education.

The workshop featured dynamic role-play sessions and direct interactions between students, faculty mentors, and Dr. Nadkarni. Case scenarios were enacted making the session very interesting and informative. The workshop also engaged representatives from the Student Council and the Resident Doctor Association, focusing on the core values and professional ethics necessary for a successful career in healthcare.

The event concluded with an active Q&A session, allowing faculty and students to address specific challenges in the teaching-learning process and in mentoring.
