AIIMS Nagpur, College of Nursing in collaboration with Department of Microbiology successfully conducted national certificate course in infection prevention and control from 8-15 February, 2025 under the scheme of Development of Nursing Services-Training of Nurses by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to help the participants develop competence in prevention, monitoring and control of HAIs, so that they may lead IPC programmes and facilitate reduction of infection rates in their facility
The course was officially inaugurated by Dr Prashant P Joshi, Honourable Executive director and CEO of AIIMS Nagpur in the presence of Dr Mrunal Phatak Dean academics, Course Directors Dr Rajini Peter, Professor cum principal, College of Nursing, Dr Meena Mishra HOD, Microbiology Department and other distinguished guests,
It was a comprehensive structured course with blend of lecture cum discussions, hands on sessions, case studies, homework and observational visits to cover all important aspects of Infection prevention and control including evidence based infection control practices, care bundles, biomedical waste management, outbreak investigations, antibiotic stewardship IPC policy, surveillance, audits etc. Thirty five nursing officers working in HICC and critical care units from various INI and reputed institutions actively participated and successfully passed the theory and practical examination. This initiative strengthens our commitment to safeguard patient safety and enhance healthcare outcomes.
